Guiding Activities:
- Keep class 'journal' blog (during following activities) regarding observations, thoughts, conclusions, and additional questions...students would be the authors and could either post text comments or podcasts

- Day trip to local forest/park to photograph tree varieties, collect seeds, measure air temperature and wind speed
- Invite local greenhouse owner to lead class in creating egg carton greenhouse; students will observe and document germination process
- Class researches and explains life cycle of an apple tree using Blabberize
- Use 'Explore' feature on Google Maps to visit forests all over the U.S.
- Class builds "bottle" ecosystems (with help from older students) to observe interrelation of plants and animals
- Class researches woodland habitats: deciduous forests, coniferous forests, and tropical rain forests, and then small group teams choose one habitat to create ThingLink diagram
- Wrap-up discussion: What do we use trees for? What do animals use trees for? How do trees help us? How do trees need us?

NOTE: Selected activities conducted over course of quarter and include use of technology as a way to expose students to possible tools for sharing knowledge
